Teacher of Italian (part-time) Dover Adult Education Centre.  Teaching and preparing students for examinations: Institute of Linguists .  Training other AE teachers. Organising/directing Italian study weekends and days.  Prepared mature students to enter UKC degree courses.


Freelance Translator and Interpreter  for the Public Services (Police, Immigration, Customs, and for both the Magistrate and Crown Courts).


Freelance teacher of Italian for Cicero School of Languages, Tunbridge Wells. Specialising in One-to-one telephone tuition for business people.


Italian language lecturer at the University of Kent at Canterbury .  Teaching the language from introductory to final year levels. Convenor in charge of Introductory first year and Second Year language courses. In charge of preparing examination papers and oral exams. Also lecturing on history of Italian Cinema and the History of Italian Gastronomy.


Initiator, director, convenor and language tutor of the first University Part-time Diploma in Italian in the Country. This is a three year course which, when completed, allows students to take a full time Honours Degree in Single Italian in one year.  (In 1992 one and in 1995 three ex diploma students graduated at UKC: grades were II.1 and one student obtained a First).  The third (present) Diploma Course started in October, 1995 will be completed in June 1998; there are plans for a new one staring in October 1998.

Producer, researcher and presenter of the first Olympus Video Programme ‘Themes’ I TRASPORTI, for

Italian, a multimedia course comprising a one hour video and book for teaching Italian at an intermediate and advanced levels.  The video programme was transmitted, for BBC & RAI, via the Olympus satellite throughout Europe for three years at regular intervals; and directly to Schools and Universities in various countries, also outside Europe .


Director, convenor of the Satellite Kent Project, an innovative programme for second year university students sponsored by Enterprise Kent , which aimed at developing different learning skills.  This course has allowed students of Italian to complete the production of video programmes and accompanying book on three different themes which can now be used for teaching Italian to other students. UKC.

August/Sept. 1993

Guest lecturer (one month contract) at Universit� Italiana per Stranieri in Perugia , teaching 3rd level students of Italian.  Course title: Using television as a stimulus for the comprehension and the practical production of Italian language.


Producer, researcher and director of the Video Programme IL CINEMA ITALIANO, Alcuni Spunti (Teatro e Letteratura), a multimedia course comprising a video, a computer disk, an audio cassette and a book (with transcriptions, exercises and newspaper extracts) for teaching Italian at an intermediate and advanced levels,.  Based on authentic Italian television material  As part of the international project, Lingua ITALIA 2000 sponsored by the European Commission, which involves other universities in the UK, Spain, Italy and Ireland.  The teaching package is based on TV news programmes supplied by RAI Lombardia, Milan and Teletna, Catania and it is intended for use by Universities and schools. Shown by the BBC Broadcasting Corporation in their Learning Zone programmes. A new contract package Lingua Socrates for 1996-97 has yielded two new programmes of which I was also producer/director : GASTRONOMIA ITALIANA. 1) Il Nord with RAI’s TV material and  2) Il Sud, with material by TELETNA; as well as a short course on long distance learning, presently being broadcast by BBC2.


1993:Article published in the Bulletin n. 26, of Italian Society for Italian Studies. Title: Satellite Kent Project - A different way of learning Italian at University, Production of a video teaching unit in Italian.

February 1994: Invited by the Universit� di Trento to present a lecture at their international conference in Italy . Title of the paper: Byronismo nei film di Vampiri.

November 1995: Article published by Mondo Italiano. Title: From Olympus to Lingua Italia 2000.
